Traditionally, Ashtanga Yoga was taught incrementally, breath by breath and pose by pose, in a self-paced class known as Mysore Style. Practice was early in the morning and often included heavy hands on adjustments. What is so (Un)Traditional about this session is: we will be practicing in the evening and use only light, mindful, therapeutic assists.
Using verbal direction, demonstrations and light assists, Erica will guide you in finding the best path for you through the Primary Series of Ashtanga. As you gain confidence and self sufficiency in the physical postures, you will discover how to quiet your mind so you can listen closer to your own intuition. Flexibility, strength and pain relief are side effects of practicing the techniques of Ashtanga: Postures, Free breathing, Gazing points.
Thursdays In Person 6:30-7:30. Class will begin with a 15 minute workshop and will be guided through a short sequence meant to be memorized. Students will then repeat the practice Mysore Style following their own breath.
