Breath and Mudras Session

  • Ashtanga Yoga Reimagined 6285 Sweetwood Drive Macungie, PA, 18062 United States (map)

Want to learn to meditate but no techniques seem to work for you?
Pranayama (breath control) is one of the 8 steps on the path of Ashtanga Yoga. It is a way to harness your energy and focus your intent, in order to find happiness and live authentically.
Mudras (symbolic hand gestures) exercise the hands while calming the mind. It is believed that performing mudras can intensify the effects of our yoga or meditation practice and enhance the flow of energy.

In this 8 week session, you will learn Ashtanga breathing techniques and a hand mudra sequence with accompanying prayer. Practice on your own between classes with the help of videos that Erica will provide you links to.

8 Thursdays | Feb. 6-March 27, 2025 | $95
No experience necessary, although some experience with Ujjayi breathing is helpful.

MORE INFO:
Pranayama, the yogic technique of regulating the breath, releases anxiety and gives the mind something to focus on other than the stressor itself.
This process shifts our brain into a state in which we can begin to observe the workings of our our mind without judgement. In this state, we discover solutions for issues we may not have otherwise thought of. We learn to regulate our emotions by focusing on our senses.
We feel grounded, at peace, engaged and immersed.

Hand Mudras, yogic postures for the hands, help to maintain the strength and flexibility of the hands and fingers. Each Mudra has a specific meaning and name, just like the yoga postures. We will practice each mudra separately then put them all together in a beautiful, flowing prayer.
